Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Attends Taawon’s Annual Evening in Abu Dhabi and Reaffirms the UAE’s Commitment to Supporting the Palestinian People
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended Taawon’s Annual Evening held at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The event brought together leading figures from humanitarian organizations, representatives of international institutions, and members of the private sector. The distinguished attendance reflected the strong and respected position Taawon holds, as well as the UAE’s continued commitment to humanitarian values and to initiatives that support the Palestinian people, particularly children and families facing hardship in Gaza and across Palestine. Her Excellency Abeer Ramahi, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the UAE, was also present.
Sheikh Nahyan’s participation reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to strengthening solidarity, compassion, and shared responsibility in the region. In his address, he expressed appreciation for Taawon’s work and mission. He said, “I extend my warm greetings and sincere thanks for your kind invitation to this annual gathering of Taawon, a dynamic community institution guided by a loyal and genuine national vision for humanitarian service and the alleviation of suffering among the Palestinian people.”
He highlighted the NOOR Initiative and its focus on orphaned children in Gaza. “It is truly inspiring to see your commitment through the NOOR program to supporting orphaned children in Gaza. As the largest orphan care initiative in the region, it embodies unity, mercy, and a deep sense of belonging. Your determination to provide these children with a humane and secure environment is a powerful expression of compassion and national responsibility.”
Sheikh Nahyan also spoke about the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “We are fully aware of the catastrophic conditions endured by our brothers and sisters in the Strip. We pray for relief and for the lifting of hardship so that Gaza and Palestine may return to a life of peace, love, and stability. The suffering we witness is a profound moral challenge to the conscience of humanity. The world must understand that justice, fairness, and respect for rights are the only path to a dignified and secure life for all nations.”
He emphasized the depth of the relationship between the UAE and Palestine. “This annual gathering in Abu Dhabi is a clear reflection of the strong bonds between the people of the UAE and the people of Palestine. Under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we continue to follow the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed, who steadfastly supported the rights of the Palestinian people and their pursuit of an independent state. Our commitment remains firm in both word and action.”
Addressing Taawon, he added, “You are a distinguished model of Palestinian dedication to human development, community advancement, and the preservation of national identity. Your programs reflect deep confidence in the future of Palestine and in the resilience of its people. The efforts you lead stand as a testament to courage, determination, and a clear vision in the face of adversity.”
He concluded with renewed support for the NOOR Initiative. “Supporting orphaned children in Gaza is an urgent humanitarian priority. I commend your noble values and your commitment to dignity and human compassion. We hope that this program will bring renewed hope and stability to Gaza’s children, who remain close to our hearts.”
During the evening, Dr. Nabil Hani Qaddumi, Chairman of Taawon, reflected on the institution’s journey of more than forty years in serving the Palestinian people. He noted that since the second day of the escalation in Gaza, Taawon has scaled up its humanitarian response under the Gaza Deserves framework, including the NOOR Initiative, higher education programs, mobile medical units, and rehabilitation services for people with injuries and limb loss.
Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Taawon’s Director General, provided a detailed overview of the NOOR Initiative as a comprehensive model of care. He explained, “NOOR is not a traditional sponsorship program. It is a long-term journey that accompanies a child until the age of eighteen. It brings together education, health, psychosocial support, and protection. It is a pathway that restores balance and gives each child the strength to rise again.”
Taawon concluded the evening by reaffirming its commitment to programs that safeguard vulnerable families, empower youth, and strengthen the resilience and dignity of Palestinian communities.
